CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Ted's Butcherblock will be celebrating the recent addition of its food truck breakfast service and Palmetto Brewing will be debuting a new beer at a "Brunch and Brew" event at Ted's Butcherblock, taking place on Saturday, March 22 from 9 am to 3 pm. The event menu will include items like Painted Hills Sirloin and Eggs, Huevos Rancheros and an Ultimate Breakfast Burger. In addition to debuting its new Imperial Farmhouse Brown Ale, "Brown Hound," Palmetto Brewing will be pouring its Espresso Porter, a perfect pairing for the breakfast menu.
The event marks the recent addition of breakfast to the offerings at Ted's Butcherblock. The popular downtown butcher shop and cafe is now serving breakfast from the food truck behind the shop at 334 East Bay Street from 7 am until 10:30 am Tuesdays through Saturdays, offering a quick and convenient option for a delicious breakfast and gourmet coffee to go in the Calhoun/Aquarium Wharf district of downtown Charleston. The weekly breakfast menu highlights the shop's premium meats, artisanal bacons, housemade sausages and other quality ingredients with items like the "Breakfast Sandwich Your Way," featuring choice of egg, cheese and meat (artisanal bacon, housemade chorizo, Taylor ham, house smoked salmon), an Egg & Veggie Bowl and fresh fruit and greek yogurt parfaits. Specials will be added to the menu on select days, including items like steak & eggs, corned beef hash and other specialties. Beverage options includes juices and gourmet coffee from Charleston Coffee Roasters.
"We're excited to add breakfast to our offerings, and think that the location behind the shop will provide a convenient option for our customers to pull up for fast service," said Ted Dombrowski, owner of Ted's Butcherblock. "There's plenty of on-street parking available in the area at that time of day."
The Brunch & Brew event also marks the debut of Palmetto Brewing's "Brown Hound," a new Imperial Farmhouse Brown Ale (roughly 8% ABV) fermented with an indigenous South Carolina yeast strain from the upstate. It's a big, wild brown ale named for an old hound dog that used to call the brewery home.
"This is a fun new beer, and Ted's Butcherblock is a great venue for folks to come try it," says Chris Winn of Palmetto Brewery.  "We are really looking forward to pairing these beers with some of Ted's fine food, and are excited about the chance to debut the new beer."
