High Wire Distilling Co. Receives Several Significant National Awards For Their Artisan Spirits
American Craft Distillers Association, American Distilling Institute, and San Francisco World Spirits Competition Award Six Medals to High Wire
CHARLESTON, SC - Three top, national spirit organizations have recently awarded High Wire Distilling Co. medals of distinction for their spirits. High Wire is the only Charleston based distillery selected in these competitions.
During their inaugural convention in Denver, CO, the American Craft Distillers Association presented High Wire Distilling Co. bronze medals for their Hat Trick Botanical Gin and Quarter Acre Sorghum Whiskey in the gin and whiskey categories. The 2014 ACDA Awards mark the first major spirits competition conducted by craft distillers for craft distillers. Over 300 spirits were entered into the competition with only a little over 100 of them receiving medals.
“The winners within the ACDA competition have achieved a great distinction for the quality of their products, and can assert with authority that, by jury of their peers, they have merited awards of unqualified excellence," said Pennfield Jensen, ACDA executive director.
At the 2014 San Francisco World Spirits Competition held March 20-23, High Wire Distilling Co. received a bronze medal for their Hat Trick Botanical Gin. More than 1,400 spirits were judged—the largest competition in the organization’s 14 year history. Renowned cocktail professional Tony Abou-Ganim assembled a team of 39 of the world’s best spirits professionals to judge the event.
Last, the American Distilling Institute, the oldest and largest membership organization of small-batch, independently owned distilleries, awarded High Wire Distilling three awards. Their Hat Trick Botanical Gin won a Bronze medal in the Contemporary Gin category as well as a Bronze in Excellence In Packaging. Their Quarter Acre Sorghum Whiskey also received a bronze medal for the Alternative Whiskey category.
“This is a major honor for us and something we have worked hard to accomplish in our first year,” stated Scott Blackwell, head distiller and owner of High Wire
Distilling Co. “We wanted to create a distinctive line of small batch spirits that would be different from the rest. These awards give recognition to the incredible effort we have taken to create extraordinary artisanal spirits.”
